Highland Spectacular 2024
The Highland Spectacular is back for the second year running! Experience the thrill of highland dancing and live Scottish music, witness an epic joust between the knights of England and Scotland on the tournament field, watch traditional Highland Games (with the chance to join in!), and learn about Scottish ancestry at clan tents.

The lone piper welcome

Begin the day with the sound of a lone piper calling all Clans to gather within the walls of Kryal Castle.

10:30am and 12:30pm
Catch the Highland Games in two thrilling sessions - 10:30am and 12:30pm - where the crowd can even join in the action!

Parade with massed bands (Saturday only)

Listen to massed pipes and drums honouring the music of Scotland, and hear an opening speech by Chief of the Day, Simon Abney-Hastings the 15th Earl of Loudoun.

WHO IS WILLIAM WALLACE? PLUS ROBERT THE BRUCE
Celebrating 750 years since the birth of King Robert ‘The Bruce’ who will demonstrate his prowess in the Scottish-themed skill-at-arms as he rides his mighty steed against Englishman de Bohun. Uncover the real William Wallace with entertaining performances by the Castle players.

Experience the vibrant energy of highland dancing as skilled performers showcase their artistry in a dynamic demonstration. Immerse yourself into the tradition and perhaps join in and try a few steps yourself.

Scotland vs England joust
2:00pm
Watch as jousters from England and Scotland clash in this major display of medieval warfare. The competitors' armour is authentic medieval replica, the rules are true to history, and the hits from the three-metre wooden lances are big and bone-shaking.

CLAN TENTS
Learn about ancestry and the origins of families in Scotland, and enjoy the great stalls selling kilts and Scottish regalia, haggis, potato scones, whisky and other delicious Scottish fare.

Axe Throwing
Designed to be enjoyed by all ages, with smaller and lighter axes for children (height restrictions apply), the Axe Throwing Range is a safe and enjoyable way to test your accuracy on our hand-made wooden targets as you are taught by our resident team of Knights.
Operating from 10:00am until 4:00pm.

Archery
The Kryal Castle Archery Range is a dedicated space to learn the ancient art of archery, hone your skills and test your accuracy against our targets. With tickets starting as low as $5 for 5 arrows, the archery experience includes a brief lesson with one of our resident archers, hire of a Kryal Castle bow, and of course access to the hay bale archery targets that will let you aim for that elusive bullseye!
Operating Daily from 10:00am until Park Close. There are no timed slots so ensure you visit the range early to skip the queues.
