GENERAL CASTLE QUESTIONS
Are you open today?
We’re open 10am-4pm every Saturday and on select Sundays during the VIC/NSW school term. During the VIC/NSW school holidays, we’re open every day from 10am-4pm. We’re closed on weekdays and some Sundays during the school term. Please check our social media channels for updates.
I can’t use my third party voucher/ticket on the website to buy tickets
For third party voucher/ticket redemptions, simply bring the confirmation email or physical voucher with you and present it at the front desk on the day of your visit. Our Box Office team will sight it and issue your entry ticket on the spot. If you’d like to pre-book any of our add-on experiences using your third-party voucher, please contact us in advance at ticketing@kryalcastle.com.au.
I have booked accommodation and tickets but didn’t realise tickets were included in my accommodation prices.
If you've purchased both accommodation and tickets but didn’t realise that tickets were already included, just let our Box Office team know when you arrive at the Castle. They’ll be happy to assist and sort it out for you on the day.
I have booked accommodation but want to book a Potions Class and/or a Hair Braiding session.

What’s covered under the general admission price?
General admission includes entry to the Castle grounds, access to our vendors, select school holiday craft activities, the Skill at Arms and jousting arena shows, as well as participation in Knight School and axe throwing.
Which activities cost extra?
Potion making classes, face painting, archery, hair braiding (available during the school holidays), and select school holiday craft activities.
How do I book membership tickets online?
- Go to the Kryal Castle website
- Click the blue “Buy Tickets Now” button (top right)
- Select your visit date
- Scroll down and choose “General Admission – Member Ticket”
- Enter the quantity of member tickets you need
- Click the blue “Checkout” button
- Add any extras you’d like, or click “Skip”
- Enter your details
- In the “Apply a discount” section, click “Redeem Now”
- Select “Membership” and enter your membership number
- Click “Apply”
- Complete checkout as normal
I need to cancel/reschedule my tickets
If you need to cancel or reschedule your tickets, please send an enquiry to ticketing@kryalcastle.com.au and our team will help you.
Can I buy tickets at the door?
You can purchase tickets at the door, but we recommend pre-booking online to ensure your spot is secured. If you're travelling from a distance or want to double-check availability, feel free to call the Castle on (03) 5334 8500 and select the General Ticketing Enquiries line during our opening hours.
Are you booked out today?
If tickets are showing on our website, they’re still available. If a day isn’t listed, it means it’s sold out.
Do you do night shows?
Yes! We currently run our Heist and Murder Mystery shows on alternating months. Each event includes dinner and a complimentary cocktail.
What is included with the annual pass?
The Annual Pass gives you unlimited entry to the Castle Grounds and Attractions for 12 months, plus a free archery range pass each visit. You’ll also receive 20% off Kryal Castle branded merchandise, in-park discounts on select experiences (subject to availability), 50% off entry for up to 5 accompanying guests, and 20% off night shows, special events (like the Ballarat Rodeo), and accommodation.
Are you open on public holidays?
Yes, we’re open on all public holidays except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Are there discounts for group bookings?
Yes! We offer group discounts for 30 or more people. Please email admin@kryalcastle.com with your group size and dates, and our team will be happy to help.
I have a membership. How do I purchase my guest tickets online with my discount?
- Go to the Kryal Castle website
- Click the blue “Buy Tickets Now” button (top right)
- Select your visit date
- Scroll down and choose “General Admission Day Pass”
- Enter the quantity (up to 5) of the ticket type you need
- Click the blue “Checkout” button
- Add any extras you’d like, or click “Skip”
- Enter your personal details
- In the “Apply a discount” section, click “Redeem Now”
- Select “Membership” and enter your membership number
- Click “Apply”
- Complete checkout as normal
How do I book a function/birthday?
To book a function or birthday celebration, please send an enquiry email to functions@kryalcastle.com.au and our team will be in touch to help plan your event.
I want to be a vendor at one of your events.
Please keep an eye on our social media channels for announcements about vendor applications for upcoming events.
What kind of concession do you accept?
We accept Seniors Cards, Health Care Cards, Pension Cards, Student Cards, and Veteran Cards as valid forms of concession. Please make sure to bring your card with you on the day.
I want to work at the castle.
We advertise job vacancies on Seek as they become available, but you’re also welcome to send your resume to admin@kryalcastle.com.au and we’ll keep it on file for future opportunities.
Do the shows still run during bad weather?
Yes, our shows go ahead rain, hail, or shine. If there are any changes on the day due to extreme weather, our Herald will make an announcement.
I want to book ahead for potion making for the school holidays but I can’t see any tickets available on the website.
That just means we’re still finalising our schedule and haven’t released the tickets yet. Please keep checking, they’ll be available soon.
Is the Joust on everyday?
Yes, the Joust happens everyday that we are open to the public.
What ages can do the potion making classes?
Wizards of all ages are welcome to participate. If you have a young wizard who needs some extra supervision, parents can join the class for free to help guide them.
Is the castle wheelchair/pram accessible?
Yes, the Castle is wheelchair and pram accessible. When you arrive, please wait by the big double gates to the left of the staircase (the Traders Gates). While one member of your group buys or checks in tickets at the office, let the staff know you need wheelchair or pram access. They will then open the gates and assist you inside.
I’m trying to buy tickets for a weekday but no tickets are coming up.
We’re only open to the public on weekdays during the VIC/NSW school holidays or on public holidays. If tickets aren’t available, it’s likely because the Castle is closed on that day, or sold out.
Can I bring my own food to the castle?
Yes! Just remember to clean up any rubbish or food scraps and use one of the many bins located around the Castle.
Can I dress up?
Yes, we strongly encourage it! If your costume is especially impressive, you might be asked to wear a Visitors Pass so our actors can be easily distinguished.
Large or historically accurate weapons are prohibited. However, small, LARP-safe weapons made from plastic or foam are fine to carry. As always, please be considerate of the other patrons around you.
I want to know about the DnD event.

Can I bring my pet to the castle?
For the safety of the animals living at the Castle, pets are not permitted. If you have a certified medical or emotional support animal, please inform the Box Office staff upon arrival.
I want to film/photoshoot at the castle.
You’re welcome to film or take photos for personal use while visiting (remember to tag us!). For any creative or commercial projects, please send an enquiry with details to admin@kryalcastle.com.au.
Do you have any public transport options that go out to the castle?
While there’s no direct public transport to the Castle, Ubers and taxis can easily drop you off here. For larger groups, you can hire a bus through one of the local bus companies.
I didn’t get a confirmation e-mail with my tickets but the money has gone through.

I’ve booked accommodation. Are there any restaurants/cafes on-site that are open after hours?
Unfortunately, our eateries close when the park closes at 4pm. For evening dining, we recommend exploring the restaurants on Sturt Street in Ballarat.
Can I get a pass-out?
Yes, with a general admission day pass, you’re free to come and go from the Castle as many times as you like throughout the day.
Is there a schedule for upcoming events?
Event schedules are published on our website from up to 2 weeks to a few days before the event.
Do you offer work experience?
Yes, we offer work experience opportunities in areas like performance, hospitality, retail, and history. For more information, please email admin@kryalcastle.com.au.
I’m going to be late for my potions class! Can I change the time?
