Where is Kryal Castle?

Kryal Castle is located just outside Ballarat, approximately 108km from Melbourne’s city centre.

To get to Kryal Castle by car from Melbourne, take the Western Freeway, which goes past the townships of Bacchus Marsh and Ballan on the way to Ballarat.

By train it takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to travel from Melbourne to Ballarat.

When is Kryal Castle open?

Kryal Castle is open on weekends, Victorian School Holidays and select Public Holidays from 10am to 4pm (last admission at 3pm)

Do I have to book or pre-purchase tickets?

Yes due to currently government restrictions all visitors must book online and provide a name and contact phone number for each ticket. To book a ticket please click here.

Can I bring my dog / cat/ pets to Kryal Castle?

Only assistance dogs are allowed onto the premises.

We have horses, sheep, goats and birds here at Kryal Castle so that we ask that you leave Fido at home when you come to visit us.

Is there public transport to Kryal Castle?

Unfortunately there is no public transport directly to Kryal Castle, however, taxis are readily available from the Ballarat train station.

Can I get a passout?

Our friendly ticketing staff can provide you with a pass out so you can go out to your car and come back in again to continue your day.

What can I expect to see?

Kryal Castle is Australia’s only medieval adventure park, recreating a legendary land of myths and medieval adventure. Within the Castle walls is a medieval village full of fantastic activities.

What is included with entry?

All of the shows within the Castle are included in your general admission ticket.  Shows include the Skill at Arms Horsemanship Display, The Royal Joust, street theatre, pantomimes.  Other activities include the maze, visit our friendly animals in the animal nursery, the knights tower including displays of medieval weapons, toothfairy lolly shop, Torture Chamber museum (12yrs and above), Bravehearts playground, Dragon’s Labyrinth.

What activities are no longer available due to the Coronavirus outbreak

Unfortunately, until further notice Archery Siege, Wizard Demonstrations, Potion Making, Face Painting and Pony rides

Is there somewhere to buy food and beverages at Kryal Castle?

Our Ale House is open all day. Warm up with a homemade soup, locally made assorted pies and other daily specials. Also, warm up with a coffee, or enjoy one of our ales!

The Tooth Fairy lolly shop also has a range of sweets, ice creams and drinks to tempt every sweet tooth.

We also have a coin operated BBQ in our rotunda that you are welcome to use.

Can I bring a picnic?

You are most welcome to bring a picnic lunch with you!

Can I get married at Kryal Castle?

Yes! Travel back to an age of chivalry and romance to celebrate a fairy tale wedding. Submerge yourself in medieval times with a ceremony in our quaint Chapel. The beautiful surroundings, delicious menus and enchanting entertainment ensure every wedding at Kryal Castle is unforgettable.
